It created a new folder that still had the name of my profile in it, and my saved games, but it reset all my controls and other Options/Settings. (My Documents folder?) I then renamed that folder(added a "2" at the end of it) and relaunched game. I am not in front of that computer at moment, but I navigated to the Larian Studios folder that had my config settings/user profile. All my other coop friends did not have blackscreen issue. I had narrowed this past blackscreen issue to a specific friend it was occurring with. We have even removed Divinity from allowed apps and readded it when prompted.Ĥ) We all play Steam version of game and we all Verified File Integrity in Steam.ĥ) We uninstalled Antivirus/software firewalls(except Windows Defender firewall).ħ) All our PCs have SSD drives, but we still sit for 5+ minutes to give it loading time, just in case. We have no current or past issues launching the Classic Edition.ġ) First, I host the game due to best connection the group.Ģ) We all have updated video drivers, Windows 10 patches, updated Divinity patchesģ) Windows Defender Firewall is set to allow game. I play alot of coop with friends, and we recently had this issue playing with one friend when launching a Definitive Edition game for our first time with him. When we finished random charactor selection and Start Game, it sat on black screen for and then suddenly started playing intro movie, which I then Escaped out of, and it suddenly started to load game on both our machines. We got it to load one single time during our tests between myself(the host) and my friend that we had narrowed issue down to, but. He lives overseas, but has good Internet connection, and we can launch a Divinity Classic Edition game with him with no issues. We started testing with me hosting a game with one person at a time. You can actually hit the menu options like Quit game if you click the right spots. Only a game-mouse-arrow.ĥ) We let it sit there for 5+ min and nothing happens.Ħ) If you hit Escape button, you can hear the menu or shuffling of a bag occur. I send Invites to three other friends with good/great computers.ģ) We all create custom characters and then Start Game.Ĥ) Once the last person finishes, the game screen goes full black, with no intro movie playing. Regardless of whether you use a preset class or customize, you will start off with the following perks:Īgain, all skills and talents have prerequisites, so you may want to fill in your attributes and abilities first when starting from scratch.2) I set game to allow Friends, or Invite-only. A character's starting perks are just that: what he or she starts with, not necessarily what he or she will need to be or do as the campaign goes along. The preset classes can help you avoid those mistakes, though each can still be further customized.Īs you level up, the same rules apply, so you can theoretically end up with a high-level character that plays against the type of what you started with. For example, you could pour all your starting Ability points into Two-Handed Weapons, but then only run around with a dagger and a shield. However, the possibilities also mean you can theoretically break your game before it begins. Naturally you can go with the basic route of a melee fighter backed up with a healer, or a wizard who does massive damage backed by a sneaky rogue who backstabs everyone. It is in your best interest to create your first two characters in such a way that they complement each other. All that matters is whether you're applying points to the areas that work for your playstyle. However, if you are customizing, the class you choose is actually meaningless. Abilities, Talents, and Skills all have prerequisites, thus introducing the balance. If you're a veteran of role-playing games or desire control, you can customize every aspect of your characters. Your characters can be assigned a class from a list of eleven Preset Classes, but these classes are merely presets to the myriad of skills, talents, and spells you can assign. When you first start a new game, you are tasked to create your first two characters, both in appearance and starting skills. Character creation in D:OS can be a fairly long and involved process if you choose.
